Growth to 25 feet. Small tree with pendulous branches, dark green, shiny leaves. Reddish-purple leaves emerging in spring, then turning dark green as they are joined by a graceful display of white flowers. In autumn, the leaves turn orange, scarlet or purple. Edible Red berries extend the colorful show into winter. The berries are also eaten by songbirds, such as Cedar Waxwings, also ruffed grouse, fox sparrow, wood duck, turkey, bobwhite and pheasant eat the fruit.
