American Larch - Other common names: Tamarack, eastern larch, hackmatack Mature Height: 30-65 ft. Soil / Climate: Grows in most soils including clay and limestone. Do best in moist, but well drained soils. Notes: Deciduous evergreen. Fast grower. The wood is used principally for pulpwood, but also for posts, poles, rough lumber, and firewood. It is also grown as an ornamental tree in gardens in cold regions, and is a favorite tree for bonsai. Needles turn yellow before dropping Wildlife: Grouse will eat the buds, seeds, and it is also used as cover for larger mammals such as deer. Our trees are field grown & should not be planted in pots.
